It's so fascinating to discover those stories--perhaps even more wondrous than reading good fiction.Bhaswatihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15397144389576029618noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24574735.post-34799369660707930802007-07-07T11:24:00.000-07:002007-07-07T11:24:00.000-07:00I agree with Abhay. Then again, it's also a bit of fun to try and make up one that you think would fit them.Andrea Allisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14702322027393523509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24574735.post-29422478272917343242007-07-07T02:46:00.000-07:002007-07-07T02:46:00.000-07:00Well said!Well said!Bernitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05264585685253812090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24574735.post-10752892031865660102007-07-05T07:45:00.000-07:002007-07-05T07:45:00.000-07:00Cesar, your mention of the scholar's image cracked...Cesar, your mention of the scholar's image cracked me me up. LOL, how true.

Abhay, you make an excellent point there. Writing simply but with depth can be tough, and only the very best of writers accomplish that. Tagore is a prime example. :)

Susan, I would feel the same way as you without stories. :)

Oni, you are bang on, friend. I have only read The Scarlet Letter, and I love it. Most masters of literatures do that; satisfy us with a darn good story, even as they intersperse it with the magic of subtle undertonesBhaswatihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15397144389576029618noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24574735.post-28747390574041966122007-07-04T10:47:00.000-07:002007-07-04T10:47:00.000-07:00You're very right. In my mind, literature is at its best when blended with good story and genre.

Hawthorne was a master at this. He gave you a great story that is satisfying to read, and yet had subtle themes weaving throughout.Anthony Rapinohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11581208296144295224noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24574735.post-83861034898494832982007-07-03T22:22:00.000-07:002007-07-03T22:22:00.000-07:00Hi Bhas,As always, wonderful insights abound especi...Hi Bhas,
As always, wonderful insights abound especially when you shared your friend's writing experiences. It also got me thinking what I would have done without my story books when little or literature now that I'm older. :-) Frankly, my life would be quite lost.Suzan Abrams, email: suzanabrams@live.co.ukhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08818807164881810296noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24574735.post-4100430324494995272007-07-03T00:35:00.000-07:002007-07-03T00:35:00.000-07:00I could not agree with you more and with the essen...I could not agree with you more and with the essence of this post that,I am sure, comes straight from your heart. I have been reading 'A House for Mr. Biswas by V.S. Naipaul these days and wonder if the story of Mr. Biswas could have been told much differently and with much less of unnecessary jargons and with much depth.
I believe that everybody has a story and these days whenever I meet people I am curious to know their stories and a story always enchants me.White Squarehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04091445212688733015noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24574735.post-22976281498324067202007-07-02T10:06:00.000-07:002007-07-02T10:06:00.000-07:00How true. I too prefer to be entertained rather than illustrated when I pick up a piece f fiction, even if that gets me frowned-upon.cesarcarloshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06521521008555753588noreply@blogger.com
